# Model deprecations
URL: https://docs.munito.ai/deprecations

Munito AI can remove a model from the public catalog. A request for a removed model gets `404` with the code `model_not_found`. The [model catalog](https://docs.munito.ai/models) and `GET /models` always show the current public models.

## Removed models [#removed-models]

| Model                                 | Removed    | Use instead                                   |
| ------------------------------------- | ---------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| `qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b`                | 2026-10-21 | `qwen/qwen3.8-27b`                            |
| `mistralai/mistral-small-4-119b-2603` | 2026-10-20 | `qwen/qwen3.8-27b` or `zai-org/glm-5.3-flash` |

The model ID `deepseek-ai/deepseek-v4.1-flash` without a date is not available. Use the dated release `deepseek-ai/deepseek-v4.1-flash-1017`.

## What a request for a removed model gets [#what-a-request-for-a-removed-model-gets]

The OpenAI formats (Chat Completions and Responses) answer `404`:

```json
{
  "error": {
    "message": "The model qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b does not exist, or you do not have access to it.",
    "type": "invalid_request_error",
    "param": "model",
    "code": "model_not_found"
  }
}
```

The Anthropic Messages format answers `404` with `not_found_error` and the same message.

A model ID with a typo gets the same answer.

## Check a model before you call it [#check-a-model-before-you-call-it]

`GET /models` lists the public models. It needs no key. This script checks a model, then shows the error of a removed model.

```bash
pip install openai
export MUNITO_API_KEY="munitoai_..."
```

```python
import os
import openai
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
    base_url="https://api.munito.ai/inference/v1",
    api_key=os.environ["MUNITO_API_KEY"],
)
available = {model.id for model in client.models.list()}
model = "qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b"
print(model, "is available:", model in available)
try:
    client.chat.completions.create(
        model=model,
        messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Hello!"}],
        max_tokens=2048,
    )
except openai.NotFoundError as error:
    print(error.status_code, error.body["code"], error.body["message"])
```

The script prints `is available: False`, then `404 model_not_found` and the message.

To change models, change only the `model` field. The base URL (`https://api.munito.ai/inference/v1` for the OpenAI SDK, `https://api.munito.ai/inference` for the Anthropic SDK) and your key stay the same.

## The removal policy [#the-removal-policy]

Munito AI notifies you at least 3 months before it removes a model that is not a preview. A preview model has "(preview)" in its name, and Munito AI can change or remove it without notice. The [Terms of Service](https://legal.munito.ai/terms#access-and-models) state this policy. The [changelog](https://docs.munito.ai/changelog) lists each model that Munito AI adds or removes.

Rate limits are dynamic. They depend on the usage tier of your organization, and they adapt to your usage. See [Rate limits](https://docs.munito.ai/rate-limits).

If you depend on a model, tell us through Support in the [console](https://console.munito.ai).
