Transcribe audio with Munito AI, then extract a summary and action items with source quotes and explicit owners.
Turn a transcript into notes and action items with a Munito AI chat model. For an audio file, the script first calls the speech to text API. Each action includes a source quote so that a person can check it before assignment.

print(notes.model_dump_json(indent=2))Run the fictional transcript first:
uv run --with openai --with pydantic summarize_transcript.pyThe expected result assigns the test results to Maya with the deadline text Friday.
The help page action has a null owner and deadline.
The model can phrase the summary and tasks differently.
Pass a transcript or an audio file to use your own input:
uv run --with openai --with pydantic summarize_transcript.py transcript.txt
uv run --with openai --with pydantic summarize_transcript.py meeting.mp3Check the notes
The transcription endpoint returns plain text without speaker labels or timestamps. The script cannot identify a speaker from their voice. Check names, dates, and commitments against the original audio before you create tasks. An exact quote can still contain a transcription error.
The 60,000-character limit is a guard for this example, not an API limit. For a longer transcript, summarize sections with source identifiers, then combine and review their notes. See Speech to text for supported formats and upload limits.
Region and cost
Both requests use the EU host.
The summary request sets store=False; the transcription uses the default retention policy.
Audio input bills transcription tokens, then the summary bills chat tokens.
A text file needs only the chat request.
Your recordings and saved notes have separate storage policies.
